Whenever we attend a rescue, we do our very best to calm our bat as quickly as possible. Calming a frightened and stressed out flying-fox isn't as difficult as it sounds as most of our rescued animals respond favourably to juice and ripe banana. Offering yummy things to eat and drink not only reassures the bat but it helps to build trust and affirm that we are here to help and not to harm. Any flying-fox by itself through the day is in trouble. Don't touch but please be humane and call your local rescue organisation or the RSPCA and a vaccinated and trained volunteer will be quickly dispatched to safely and humanely rescue the bat. As we approach orphan season it is so important that members of the public don't touch any bats even tiny babies.www.bats.org.auTo use this video in a commercial player or in broadcasts, please email licensing@storyful.com
